Lifetime Inside a Mystery Chinese Bitcoin Mine

In October of last calendar year Motherboard gained entry to a large, secretive Bitcoin mine housed inside of a repurposed manufacturing unit in the Liaoning Province in rural northeast China.

This is the infrastructure that keeps the electronic currency’s decentralized network up and managing, and its operators are profiting significant time.

The mine we visited is just 1 of 6 websites owned by a secretive group of four individuals, section of a colossal mining procedure that, as of our stop by, cumulatively created 4,050 bitcoins a month, equal to a month-to-month gross of $1.5 million.
